1. Ali is Commander of the Faithful and their glory,

    When people fear disastrous outcomes.

  2. Ali is the protector in whose deeds hope is placed,

    On every dire day of fierce evil.

  3. Ali is the feared one and the defender who

    Wards off every enemy from Islam.

  4. Ali is the rain and the springtime, with bounty,

    When a calamity befalls the people.

  5. Ali is the just one, granted success and well approved,

    And the dispeller of confusion in strange, obscure matters.

  6. Ali is the refuge for everyone driven out,

    Homeless and afflicted, fleeing from evil.

  7. Ali is the rightly guided one and the example to follow,

    When people are bewildered among the various doctrines.

  8. Ali is the judge and orator; with his words

    He brings forth what leaves every speaker at a loss.

  9. Ali is the eloquent disputant, with an argument

    With which he refutes the contentious enemy's claim.

  10. Ali is the full moon, whose light is radiant;

    His radiance shines in the darkness of deepest gloom.

  11. Ali is the mightiest of men as a neighbor and protector,

    And the deadliest of them to a rival on the day the battalions clash.

  12. Ali has the widest-reaching forbearance and bounty of all men,

    And is truly their most generous giver of wealth to any seeker.

  13. Ali is the most self-restrained of men, avoiding all that is forbidden,

    And the most God-fearing of them in every respect.
