كتاب جمعت به كل ما

تفرق من قصص العاشقينا

A book in which I gathered all that was

Scattered from the tales of lovers

وكنت ألومهم دائباً

فصرت لهم أحد العاذرينا

And I used to blame them constantly

Thus I became one of their apologists

فكم عاشق ذاق يوم النوى

وقد غرد الحاديان المنونا

So how many a lover tasted separation

While the heartsick nightingales sang their elegy
