وَصَفْراءَ مِنْ مَاءِ الكُرُومِ شَرِبْتُها
عَلَى وَجْهِ صَفْراءِ الغَلائِلِ غَضَّةِ
And a golden wine, from the grapevines’ juice, I drank,
before the face of a tender, yellow-robed maiden.
تَبَدَّتْ وَفَضْلُ الكَأْسِ يَلْمَعُ فَوْقَهَا
كَأُتْرُجَّةٍ زِيَنتْ بِإكْليلِ فِضَّةِ
She came into view, the wine left in the cup gleaming above her,
like a citron adorned with a crown of silver.
