وباكيةٍ ليلَها كلَّه
تحاكي الصَّباحَ بمِصباحِها
A weeping woman, all her night through,
imitating the dawn with her lamp—
بَصيرةُ ليلٍ ولكنَّها
ضريرَتُه عندَ إصباحِها
keen-sighted at night, and yet
blind when its morning comes.
نَجُزُّ لإصلاحِها رأسَها
فإفسادُها عند إصلاحِها
To set her right, we shear off her head;
thus her ruin comes in her repair.
