رُبَّ صافٍ رَقْرَقَتْه الرْ
يحُ في متنِ صَفاةِ
Many a pure stream the wind disturbs
in the bed of translucent clearness
عَبِقٌ من جَرِّ أذيا
لِ رياحٍ عَبقاتِ
A scent from the trailing of robes
of scented winds and fragrances
صافحَ الرُّكبانُ منه
صَفْحَتَيْ عَذْبٍ فُراتِ
The travelers have greeted thereof
two sweet draughts of Euphrates' waters
أودَعَتْه الرّيحُ ما استَوْ
دَعَها زَهْرُ النَّباتِ
The wind has entrusted unto it what it
has borrowed from the flowers' essence
فانثَنَوا عنه بأيدٍ
خَضِراتٍ عَطِراتِ
So they turned away from it with hands
Green and perfumed through contact
