1. صُدودُكَ علَّمَ النَّومَ الصُّدودَا

    وجدَّدَ للهَوى عَهْداً جديدا

    Your rejection taught sleep to reject

    And renewed for passion a new pact

  2. مَلَلْتَ فعاد منك الجُودُ مَنْعَاً

    ولو أنصفْتَ عادَ المنعُ جودا

    You wearied, so generosity from you retreated

    And had you been fair, stinginess would have turned generous

  3. أحلَّ وَداعُنا عَطْفاً جديداً

    وأدنى بينُنا وَصْلاً بعيدا

    Our farewell made tenderness anew

    And brought us closer, though from afar

  4. فمِنْ خَدٍّ يُصافِحُ فيه خَدّاً

    ومن جيدٍ يُعانِقُ فيه جِيدَا

    So cheeks caress cheeks in intimacy

    And necks embrace necks in fervor

  5. وساجي الطَّرْفِ أَلبْسَهُ التَّصابي

    سِخاباً يُلبِسُ الجَزِعَ الجَليدا

    My glancing eyes dress in coy glances

    Cloaking ardent lovers in cool reserve

  6. أُنازِعُه اللِّحاظَ فإن تَصدَّى

    لنا واشٍ تَنازَعنا الصُّدودا

    I contend for the mantle, and if he recoils

    A tender companion contends with rejection

  7. فما ضيَّعْتُ فيه الحِلمَ إلاَّ

    لأحفَظَ في الهَوى منه العُهودا

    I lost composure only to keep intact

    Passion’s pledges within this love

  8. وما انحلَّت عقودُ الدَّمعِ حتى

    تحلَّى من مدامعِه عُقودا

    No sooner had the bonds of tears come undone

    Than it was adorned with beads of his tears

  9. سقى رَبْعَاً يُجدِّدُ لي التَّصابي

    رُباه ويُخلِقُ الصَبْرَ الجديِدا

    Watering a garden, renewing my coyness

    Raising it, creating patience anew

  10. حَيَاً يزدادُ منه الرَّوْضُ حُسْناً

    إذا ما ازدادَ بارِقُهُ وَقُودا

    Alive, making the meadow lovelier

    When its lightning and fuel increase

  11. فكم صَعَّدْنَ من أنفاسِ صَبٍّ

    فأروى من مَدامِعِه الصَّعيدا

    How we made the breaths of a youth soar

    Watering the ground with his tears

  12. تلقَّى الدَّهرُ آمالي بنُجْحٍ

    وعاد ذميمُ أيامى حَميدا

    Fortune met my hopes of success

    And my woeful days turned auspicious

  13. وقالَ ألا إلى جُودِ ابنِ فَهْدٍ

    فرُحْتُ من اللَّيالي مُستزَيدا

    Saying behold this generous son of Fahd

    I gained nights growing ever longer

  14. فتىً يُمسي بنائِله مُفيداً

    ويُصبحُ للمحامدِ مُستَفيدا

    A youth who benefits at dusk

    And thrives from praise at dawn

  15. ربيعُ الجودُ ما ينفكُّ بُيْدي

    رَبيعاً من خلائقِهِ مَجودا

    Springtime of generosity, constantly bestowing

    A springtime of his generous essence

  16. ملئٌ أن يَزيدَ الأزْدَ فخراً

    طريفاً أو يَشِيدَ لها تَليدا

    Wanting to increase glory upon the Heights

    Or build upon its lasting heritage

  17. رأى وجهَ العُلى حَسَناً جَميلا

    فأصبحَ بالعُلى صبّاً عَميدا

    He saw the visage of the Heights as beautiful

    So he awoke among the Heights a firm leader

  18. وردَّ عَطاه لي صفوَ العَطايا

    فليسَ يَمَلُّ وارِدُهُ الوُرودا

    He returned his gift to me, the choicest of gifts

    Ever replenished for those who seek it

  19. ومدَّ عليه ظِلُّ السَّيفِ حتى

    تَفَيَّأ للعُلى ظِلاً مَديدا

    He extended over it the shade of his sword

    So it shelters the Heights in lasting shade

  20. فأسعدَ جُودُه جَدّاً شقيّاً

    وأشقى بأْسُه جَدّاً سَعيدا

    His generosity made the woeful happy

    And his might made the prosperous woeful

  21. تَمَلَّ أبا الفوارسِ مُشرِقاتٍ

    تُعيدُ نحوسَها أبداً سُعودا

    The luminous stars wearied of wonders

    That repeat their renown forever

  22. أقام نداك للآداب سوقا

    يعيد نحوسها أبدا سعودا

    Your gathering made a market for culture

    Renewing its renown for all time

  23. وزادَك وافدُ الآمالِ نَشْراً

    يُبَشِّرُ بالعُلى منكَ الوُفودا

    Well-wishers’ hopes of you increased

    Announcing to the Heights throngs to come

  24. فكم أنجزْتَ من عِدَةٍ لعافٍ

    فأنجزَ للزمانٍ بكَ الوعيدا

    So much you fulfilled when you were sought

    Fulfilling for this era its threats

  25. متى شرَّفْتُ غيرَك بامتداحي

    لَبِسْتُ بمدحِكَ الشَّرَفَ العَتيدا

    When did I honor another with my praise

    Donning with your praise an honored mantle?

  26. وكم لي فيك من عَذراءَ بِكْرٍ

    تُخالُ لحُسْنِها عَذراءَ رُودا

    How many chaste virgins you have

    Rivalling beauties arrayed in necklaces

  27. عرائسَ ما اجتلاها الطَّرْفُ إلاّ

    أباحَتْه السَّوالِفَ والخُدودا

    Beauties unveiled only to glancing eyes

    Permitting only whispers and cheeks

  28. بألفاظٍ يراها القلبُ بيضاً

    إذا ما عايَنَتْها العينُ سُودا

    In words that hearts see as pure

    Though eyes view them as dark

  29. مُخلَّدَةٍ تُطيلُ شَجَى الأعادي

    وتَضمَنُ عن معاليكَ الخُلودا

    Immortalized, prolonging enemies' sorrow

    And securing your heights’ eternity

  30. شَغَلْتُ بها قلوبَ النّاسِ طُرّاً

    فما تَنفَكُّ نَسْخاً أو نَشيدا

    I preoccupied people with them, bewildered

    Transcribed or recited without end
