لسْتُ بِنافٍ خُمارَ مخمورِ

إلا بصافي الشَّرابِ مَقرورِ

I am not one who drinks wine recklessly,

Except the purest drink, well-filtered.

يطيرُ عن رأسِه القِناعُ إذا

نَفَّسْتَ عنه خِناقَ مَزرورِ

The veil lifts from it when you release

Its tight stopper, perfumed.

رامٍ بسهمٍ كأنَّه خَصِرٌ

وطيبِ نشرٍ نسيمِ كافورِ

It aims like an arrow at the waist,

The scent of its breeze like camphor.

يَميلُ أعلاه وهو مُهتَضِبٌ

كأنَّه صَولجانُ بَلُّورِ

It tilts at the top, bent like

An icicle of crystal.
