Tomorrow our tears will reveal what is hidden,
Tomorrow our tears will reveal the secrets
When the mounts are bridled for their destination.
When tied for their goodness are the tents
We stood praising tears when
We stood praising the teardrops when
We saw that separation was vile in character.
We saw the separation condemned for its evil
Their cheeks, when they depart, are like
As if their cheeks when they thinned
Red anemones still bearing remnants of dew.
Have remnants of fresh juice in them
And they have nocked arrows with their glances;
And they surpassed with glances arrows
The hearts of lovers are their targets.
The hearts of lovers are their target
We wished for a meeting, and it proved fatal;
We wished for the meeting but it was mortal
And how many a wish has brought death!
And how many wishes brought death
I see the horizons filled with joy
I see the horizons filled with delight
Through victory granted to the emir Abu al-Saraya,
By the victory of the Prince, my master of the house
Through a newborn whom God sees as a lion,
With a newborn whom God sees as a lion
And as rain pouring upon all creation.
And a rain that flows on the lands
A noble son born of noble people,
A noble one whom the generous people produced
He came resembling them in resolve and judgment.
So he came out resembling them, determined and pioneering
My praise of them, as long as I live,
I will praise them as long as I live
Is a lovesick lover's praise of front teeth.
The praise of the admirer for the praised
I picture the emir, having put him to the test,
As if I see the Prince who was tested
Dispelling calamities from him ever more,
Revealing more than his afflictions
And he has torn the souls of the envious apart with rage
And he cut the souls of the envious with rage
Through his eminence, scattering them into splinters.
With his sword he made them fragments
And armor has become tender toward him,
And the armors became devoted to him
Fluttering, while saddles are cushions for him.
Flapping, and the horses devoted to him neighing
If ever he races his equals one day
If he ever competes the equals one day
Toward the finish, he leaves them ruined.
To the goals, he leaves them regrets
He wrongs his ancestral wealth when bounty is sought
He wrongs the tradition if his fingers are allowed
From his fingers, yet he is just in judgments.
And he makes justice in the cases
Glory lives through his life and the destruction of
The life of glory is to live and perish
His enemies by events and calamities.
His enemies and regrets
So tell Abu al-Muzaffar: we have obtained
So tell Abu Al-Muzaffar we have won
The gifts we hope for from you.
What we hope from you of gifts
You excelled: you were a sea when they were
You excelled so you were an ocean when they
Scant waters drawn from wells.
Were thirsty, drawing from bits
Without excellence, we would not perceive deficiency,
And were it not for grace, we would not feel deficiency
And without devotion, sins would not be cleared away.
And were it not for devotion, sins would not be absolved
And whoever bestows rain on gardens of praise
And whoever guides the living to praiseworthy gardens
Wins from them delightful gifts,
Wins from it the blessings of guidance
Just as generous clouds lavished rain upon a land
Just as the rain cloud overflowed generously on land
And brought its hidden beauties to light.
And brought out from it the treasures
Our praises have arrived as ready cash;
And our praises have come as coins
So do not make their rewards deferred payments.
So do not make their rewards forgotten
