واصطبحناها على نه
رٍ بصَفوِ الماءِ يَجري
And we drank it in the morning beside a riv—
We found it by the bank

Of a stream, whose pure water flowed
ظَلَّلَتْهُ شَجَراتٌ
عِطرُها أطيبُ عِطرِ
Trees shaded it,
Trees shaded it
their fragrance the sweetest of fragrances.
Whose fragrance was the sweetest scent
فَلَكٌ أنجُمُهُ اللَّي
مونُ من بِيضٍ وخُضْرِ
A firmament whose stars are lem—
A sky whose stars by night
—ons, white and green:
Shone white and green
أُكَرٌ من فِضَّةٍ قد
شابَها تلويحُ تِبْرِ
Spheres of silver, already
Silvery clouds
tinged with a hint of gold.
Streaked by flashes of amber
