انظُر إلى صُورَةٍ مُكَمَّلَةٍ
كأنَّ منها المُدامَ قد خُلِطا
Look at a perfectly formed figure,
Behold a flawless image
as though wine had been blended from it.
As if blended with wine
تِبريَّة اللَّونِ في محاسِنِها
كعاشقٍ من حَبيبِه قَنَطا
Golden-hued in its lovely features,
The fairness of her complexion
like a lover who has despaired of his beloved.
Like a lover in despair of his beloved
كأنها كَفُّ حاسبٍ عَجِلَتْ
فهي من الخَوْفِ تَحذَرُ الغَلَطا
As though it were a reckoner's hand in haste,
As if an accountant's palm
and so, out of fear, it guards against error.
Fearing mistakes, it hastens
