Drink, for dawn's light has driven
Drink, for dawn has scattered the dark
the darkness away from us.
And sunlight has spread over the earth's face, so smile,
And light has spread over
As though the water-skin of the Pleiades poured into it stars,
the earth's face, and it has smiled,
And the pitcher aimed into the goblet some red wine
as though the rainclouds' water had brought forth
When she brayed, it seemed as though, moaning,
stars within it.
She wept blood.
And the ewer poured into the
cup blood-red wine,
as though the wine, when spat out
by the guffawing ewer, were weeping blood.
