And when we went together, the hangover keeping us
When we were together and the wine was forbidden to us,
from the cup, we turned aside as our undergarments were removed,
We were restless and eager to remove the obstacles,
into a spacious bathhouse, whose sky seemed
To the expanse of a bathhouse whose ceiling was like
agate studded with silver roundels.
Agate studded with pearls from al-Lujjayn,
And at the front are singing girls and wine-drinking,
With breasts and intoxicating drinks that delighted
delightful to behold there, though nothing can be heard,
The sights and hearing, nothing more,
upon the jet of its floor; and its armies
On carpets from its land while its soldiers
stand along its edges, bowed in humility.
Stood watch over its corners humbly,
We fulfilled a desire there in the morning,
We passed the morning there in bliss
and turned back to it while the maidens slept.
And returned while the maidens were asleep.
