غدوتُ بها مجنونةً في اغتدائِها

غدوتُ بها مجنونةً في اغتدائِها

تُلاقي الوحوشُ الحَيْنَ عندَ لقائِها

تُلاقي الوحوشُ الحَيْنَ عندَ لقائِها

I set out at dawn with them as they made their frenzied morning foray.

I became infatuated with her when she revealed herself

Wild beasts meet death upon encountering them.

The beasts encounter her when they meet her

لهن شياتٌ كَالدَّواويجِ أصبحتْ

لهن شياتٌ كَالدَّواويجِ أصبحتْ

مُوَلَّعَةً ظَلْماؤُها بضيائِها

مُوَلَّعَةً ظَلْماؤُها بضيائِها

They have markings like coverlets; now

They have features like lamps that have become

Their darkness has become dappled with their light.

Dazzled by her brilliance in her oppression

وأيدٍ إذا سَلَّت صوالجَ فِضةٍ

وأيدٍ إذا سَلَّت صوالجَ فِضةٍ

على الوَحشِ يوماً أذهَبتْ بدِمائِها

على الوَحشِ يوماً أذهَبتْ بدِمائِها

And paws that, when they unsheathe silver clubs

And hands that, if they pulled out silver swords

Against wild beasts on any day, drain them of their blood.

Upon the beast one day, would take away its blood
