أصفر هكذا تفيض المآقي

My love, why do you weep with tears

So yellow? Thus grief overflows.

قلت إن الدموع تألف خدي

فلهاذا تصفرُّ خوفَ الفراقِ

I said, tears grace my cheek,

So why do they yellow with fear of parting?
