قلت لصحب زارهم شادنٌ

كأنه الغصن إذا ماسا

I asked friends who visited them at dawn

As though he were a branch swaying

هل طاف بالكأس فقالوا نعم

وكاس لما شرب الكاسا

Did he pass the cup around and they said yes

Yet no cup when he who sipped has sipped
