ألا فاطرح عنك التمني ولا تبت

بكاساته نشوان غير مفيق

O you who pine after hope, cast it aside

And cease to dream of goblets brimming but undeserved

وإن كان مما لا غنى عنه فليكن

وفاةَ عدوٍّ أو حياةَ صديقِ

If your heart's desire is something you cannot forgo

Then let it be the death of an enemy or the life of a friend
