سرق الأديب محاسنَ الوراقِ

مما خطه المسكين في الأدراج

The author stole the beauty of the scribe’s work,

From what the poor man had penned in his scrolls,

والصبح يتلو المشترى فكأنه

عريان يمشي في الدجا بسراج

And the dawn recites the purchased wares, as though

A naked man walks by night with a lamp
