النهر مولى والنسيم خديمه

هذا كلام لست فيه أشكك

The river is my master, the breeze its servant

These words I do not doubt

لو لم يكن في خدمة النهر انبرى

ما كان يصقل ثوبه ويفرك

If the river had not risen to serve

It would not have polished and rubbed its garment
