1. May God reward with goodness—all recompense is in His hand—

    the sons of Dārim, for every offender and debtor.

  2. They bore my baggage and delivered what I had entrusted

    back to me, and restored to me the feathers of my foremost pinions.

  3. There is no fault in them, save that their cauldrons,

    as the proverb has it, are like the crushing years.

  4. Indeed, the legacies of those whose heirs they are

    are treasures of glory, not treasures of dirhams.

  5. What harm is there for one whose father and mother are traced

    to Dārim, if he does not belong to Hāshim?
