1. باتَ يسقيني ويشرب

    ذَهَباً للهَمِّ مُذهِب

    He gives me drink and drinks

    Gold dispelling cares

  2. شادنٌ يحمل ماءً

    فيه نارٌ تتلَهَّب

    A branch above a dune

    And a day under arches

  3. وردة ضاحكة عن

    أقحُوان حين يقطب

    For you from it a pleasing one if you wish and a retreat

    A paradise I was tortured in

  4. لو أدرناها على مَي

    تٍ لكان الميتُ يطرب

    With abstinence and avoidance

    Have you seen anyone before me

  5. ليت شعري أسُروراً

    أم مُداماً بتُّ أشرب

    Tortured in paradise?

    By my father you are and my mother

  6. صبَّ في الكاسات منها

    كالشهاب المتصوِّب

    From afar when you come close

    I have a heart however much

  7. فرأيتُ الراحَ شرقاً

    ورأيتُ الهمَّ مَغرِب

    God tossed it about

    And eyelids that sadness covers

  8. غُصُنٌ فوقَ كثيبٍ

    ونهارٌ تحتَ غيهب

    Over them anger angers

    How many a night my abstinence

  9. لك منه مَطرب يُرض

    يك إِن شئت ومضرب

    Like one staying does not leave

    We cut it with resolve

  10. جنّة عُذِّبت فيها

    بتجنٍّ وتجنب

    Like a blazing fire

    And as if the lightning when

  11. هل رأيتم أحَداً قب

    ليَ بالجنة عُذِّب

    It shone in it erects itself

    A writer above the cloud branch

  12. بأبي أنت وأُمّي

    من بعيد حين تقب

    With the pens writes

    And as if the thunder argumentative

  13. ليَ قلبٌ كيف ما قَلَّبَ

    هُ اللَه يُقَلَّب

    Or a caller or a rewarder

    And the night stars a standstill

  14. وجفون يَغشب الغمضُ

    عليها حسن يغضب

    As if pearls not pierced

    And the Pleiades like an oscillating pennant

  15. رُبَّ ليلٍ كتجنِّي

    ك مُقيمٍ ليس يَذهَب

    Above a high abode

    And the moon appeared like a sword

  16. قد قطعناه بعزم

    كالحريق المتلهب

    In the hand of Gemini gilded

  17. وكأنّ البرقَ لمّا

    لاحَ فيه يتنصب

  18. كاتبٌ من فوق فرع ال

    غيمِ بالعقيانِ يكتب

  19. وكأنّ الرعدَ حادٍ

    أو مُنادٍ أو مُثَوِّب

  20. ونجوم الليل وَقفٌ

    كلآلٍ لم تثقب

  21. والثريا كلواءٍ

    خافق من فوق مرقب

  22. وبدا البدرُ كسَيفٍ

    في يد الجوزاء مُذهَب
