وَمُهَنَّدٍ عَضبٍ إذا ما سُلَّ في

ظُلَمِ الخُطوبِ أَبانَ عَن قَصدِ الهُدى

When angry Muhammad is provoked in

The darkness of adversity, he reveals his intent to guide

يُنضى فيختَلِسُ الطُلى مِن قَبل أَن

تُدنى ذُباباهُ إلى خَلسِ الطُلى

He gathers honey before

The flies can approach the honey

مُتَمَلمِلٌ بفرندِهِ فكأَنَّما

حُمرُ الفَراشِ بُعِثنَ فيهِ والدَبى

Twisting with his sword as though

The red spots were aroused in it, and the hyenas

يَخضَرُّ مُنتصِباً وَيقنُؤُ حانياً

وَيمورُ مُهتَزّاً وَيَجري مُنتضا

Green erect, stooping,

Boiling, shaking, and flowing away
