بَكَت للفراقِ وقد راعَني
بكاءُ الحبيبِ لبُعدِ الديارِ
She wept at parting, and I was shaken
by the beloved’s tears at the distance between our homes.
كأنَّ الدموعَ على خَدِّها
بَقِيَّةُ طَلٍّ على جُلَّنارِ
As though the tears upon her two cheeks
were traces of dew upon pomegranate blossoms.
