1. لَها جيدُ ظَبيٍ واهتِزازُ يراعةٍ

    وعَينا مَهاةٍ واعتِدالُ قَضيبِ

    With the neck of a graceful gazelle and the swaying of a sapling,

    Eyes of a doe and the poise of a wand,

  2. وَلَفظةُ مَنّاعٍ ولَحظَةُ باذلٍ

    وعتبُ بَريءٍ واغتيابُ مُريبِ

    Words of a refusal, yet a look of consent,

    Reproach, yet innocent, censure, yet dubious,

  3. وإيماضُ ذي جِدٍّ وإعراضُ هازلٍ

    وسَورَةُ ذي طيشٍ وعطفُ لبيبِ

    A wink of sincerity, yet a turn of one who jests,

    Playful, yet wise, the manner of the bright one I love.
