أَلا أَبلِغا صَخراً فَإِنّيَ لَم أَكُن

لِأَقذِفَ صَخراً بِالنِفاقِ وَلا الكُفرِ

Shall I not inform a rock, for I was not

One to pelt a rock with hypocrisy or blasphemy

وَلكِنَّ في صَخرٍ عُيوباً كَثيرَةً

إِذا ذُكِرَت نَقَّبنَ مِن حَيثُ لا يَدري

But indeed in a rock many flaws

When mentioned it tunnels from where it knows not

عُيوباً وَفُحشاً لِلصَّديقِ وَغَفلَةً

وَغِشّاً وَشِعراً مِثلَ شِعرِ أَبي الجَبرِ
