1. وَمِثلي إِذا ما الدارُ يَوماً نَبَت بِهِ

    تَحَوَّلَ عَنها وَاِستَمَرَّت مَرائِرُهْ

    When trouble springs within the house I dwell

    I turn away, my joy in ruins fell,

  2. وَلا أَنزِلُ الدارَ المُقيمَ بِها الأَذى

    وَلا أَرأُمُ الشَيءَ الَّذي أَنا قادِرُهْ

    Nor will I play the humble host to pain,

    Or entertain the grief I can expel.

  3. إِذا أَنتَ لَم تَرغَب بِدارٍ نَزَلتَها

    فَبِعها بِدارٍ أَو بِجارٍ تُجاوِرُهْ

    If you dislike the dwelling you have built,

    Sell it; or rent it to a tenant, guilt-
