The best of a young man's states in speech are the most balanced,
The best course for a man in speech is the moderate path,
Between verbosity and taciturnity, neither talkative nor terse.
Between the two ways: neither inarticulate nor full of prattle.
Life is not life save what you are content with,
Life is not truly life except for that with which you are content,
Wealth may abound yet man remains needy.
For wealth may abound, yet the man remains impoverished.
