O Ali son of Haytham, O Sumaqa

O Ali bin Haytham, O sumac,

You have filled the world with hypocrisy against us

You have filled the world around us with hypocrisy.

Let your beard grow long and do not shave

Let your two jaws be still, and do not strike

Lord of Tughlib, do not wrap your beard around your face

An arch over Taghlib with your jawbones.

Do not speak arrogantly, and know

Do not speak with wide-mouthed pomp, and know

That all people have mouths

That all people possess wide mouths.
