عَزاءَكِ يا عَينُ لا تَجزَعي

وَضَنّاً بمائك لا تَدمعي

Do not despair, O my eyes,

Take comfort, O eye, do not despair,

And do not weep with your flowing tears,

And be sparing of your water; do not weep.

عَزاءً وَصَبراً فَإِنَّ الأَسى

كَثير وَانّ حَياتي مَعي

Take solace and have patience,

Find solace and patience, for the sorrow

For grief is plenty and my life is with me.

Is great, yet my life remains with me.
