Did you not see me be patient with an infirm old man
Do you not see how I patiently endured the loss of Kharim,
Whose ransom was my family and wealth?
Even though my family and my wealth would have been his ransom?
And had my right hand been paralyzed
And even if my right hand were to wither,
I would have isolated it from the left
Leaving the right severed from the left,
But I was patient with him, for I
Yet I bore his loss with patience, for indeed I
Saw patience as the mark of great men
Deemed patience the most worthy trait for men.
A young man who attained glory as a child
A young man who possessed noble virtues while merely a child,
And showed manliness while still a youth
And struck the flint of high glory while still an adolescent,
He brought glory to his people, glory that will last
And built for his people a glory that will remain,
As long as the firm mountains stand
Lasting as long as the firmly anchored mountains.
And he was for us a successor to his father
He was for us the true successor of his father,
To undertake with strong resolve this heavy task
Rising to shoulder the heavy burdens of calamity.
So do not despair, for every man of character
So may you not be cast far from mercy, for every tribe's youth
Will grieve them when the nights go by
Shall be taken from them by the turning of the nights.
And if you are destined for ruin, you will remain
For if you have now become a hostage to decay,
A glory that does not disappear or fade
You have surely left behind a glory that shall never fade.
