تَحِنّ كأنّك ترجو مَزارا

وتصبو متى كنتَ للنجم جارا

You yearn as if you hope for a shrine

And aspire whenever you were a neighbor to the star

فقلتُ نعم في الحَشا غُلَّةٌ

أُواري بها في فؤادي أُوارا

So I said: yes, in imagination there is an infatuation

I cover with it in my heart infatuations

أُمَثِّلُ بالفِكر دارَ القَرارِ

فأهجُرُ دون اللِّقاء القَرارا

I imagine the abode of settlement

Thus I abandon without the meeting the settlement

أَأَوَّلُ عاشٍ بغى جَذْوَةً

فآنَسَ من جانب الطُّور نارا

Am I the first person who sought an ember

Thus he sighted from the side of the mount a fire
