غَرَّ جَهولاً أَمَلُه

حَتّى يُوافي أَجَلُه

His foolish hopes deceive him,

Until his appointed time draws near;

وَمَن دَنا مِن حَتفِه

لَم تُغنِ عَنهُ حِيَلُه

And when death comes upon him,

His cunning will not save him.

لا يَصحَبُ الإِنسانَ مَن

دُنياهُ إِلّا عَمَلُه

Nothing accompanies a man,

In his grave, except his deeds.
