إذا شئتما عن غير قلبي تحدثا

فما حلَّ فيه الهمُّ إلاّ ليلبثا

If you wish to talk about anyone but me

Then no worry has dwelled in me but to fade away

خُذا شاهدي صدقي على صحة الهوى

ضَنىً ساكتاً منّي ووجداً محدثا

Take my honesty as witness to the truth of passion

Silently pining, vocally lovesick

مريضكما أَشْفَى على النّاس سقمُهُ

فلا تعجلا في أمرهِ وتَريّثا

Your patient is healed of his ailment before others

So do not rush his matter and take your time

رثى لي عَدوِّي من جفاءِ أَحبّتي

وناهيكَ من حالٍ عدوِّي لها رَثَى

My enemy eulogized me for the harshness of my loved ones

And suffice it what state my enemy is in, he eulogized

عهودكمُ بعدَ النّوى ما تشعّثتْ

وحاشا لذاكَ العهد أَنْ يتشعّثا

Your covenants after intention did not go astray

And far be it for that covenant to go astray

وأَملكُ بالملْكِ المظفّر ظافراً

من الجدِّ والجدوى قديماً ومُحدثا

And I hope, with Almalik’s victorious reign

To be ever victorious, modern and old

مخوفُ السُّطا صعبُ إلا بأحسن الثّنا

مرجى النّدى سهلُ الرِّضا طيبُ النّثا

Fearsome of armor, difficult except with the best praise

Hopeful of dew, easily content, good lineage

صَفا آخرُ العُمرين من عمرِ الذي

به العمران اليومَ بالعدلِ ثُلِّثا

Purity, the last of the two reigns, of the reign which

With it civilization today was third-partitioned

همُ أَحدثوا قمعَ الضّلالةِ بالهُدى

فمذ ملكوا لم تلقَ في الدِّين محدثا

They innovated suppressing misguidance with guidance

So since they reigned, no innovation in religion was found

غثائي وغثي أنتَ حامل نقصهِ

بفضلَك إنَّ البحرَ يحتملُ الغثا

My deficiencies and my defects, you bear its shortcomings

With your grace, indeed the sea can bear the scum

وقد سَهُلَتْ والثّاءُ أَوعرُ مرتقىً

فلا فرقَ عندي بين تَاءٍ وبين ثا

And it has become easy, though the 'th' is harder ascent

So to me there is no difference between a 't' and a 'th'
