عجبتُ من دَمعتي وعَيني

من قبلِ بَينٍ وبعد بَيْنِ

I wondered at my tear and my eye

Before separation and after separation

قد كانَ عَيني بغَيرِ دمعٍ

فصارَ دَمعي بغَير عَيْنِ

My eye had been without tears

Yet my tear is now without an eye
