1. وبِيضٍ جَوارٍ صَعَدنَ السُّطوحَ

    فأقررْنَ أعينَ عشّاقِهِن

    Fair maidens mounted the rooftops

    and gladdened the eyes of their lovers.

  2. صعدنَ السطوحَ فكانَ الصعودُ

    سعوداً لطالعِ مُشتاقهِنْ

    They mounted the rooftops, and their ascent

    was good fortune for the rising star of the one who longed for them.

  3. فضَحنَ الغصونَ بقاماتِهِنَّ

    وعُفْرَ الظِّباءِ بأعناقِهِن

    They shamed the branches with their statures,

    and with their necks cast the gazelles into the dust.

  4. وزادَتْ خلاخيلُ أَسواقهِنَّ

    نَفاقَ بضاعاتِ أَسواقِهِن

    The anklets upon their shanks increased

    the brisk trade in the wares of their markets.
