أَفدي غزالاً مفرطاً في الخلافْ
كأنّهُ بعضُ غصونِ الخِلافْ
I ransom a gazelle, so unique in its elegance
As if it were a branch of the oleander bush
ظبيٌ غَريرٌ غرَّني حُسنُهُ
أخافُ منهُ وعليهِ أخافُ
A graceful, docile gazelle, whose beauty enticed me
I fear it, yet I fear for it as well
