تعالَ نَنْدُبْ مع وُرْقِ الغَضا

على عهودٍ كَرَبَتْ أنْ تَبيدْ

Come let us lament with the verdure

Of times that were hard and are past;

وقلِّصِ الذيلَ وشمِّرهُ عَن

خَلْفٍ من الخلقِ حَكاهم لَبيدْ

Draw in thy long skirts and walk kindly,

Good folk have need of it fast.
