    Winter donned coats of ice,

So wear them, for time grew cold and bleak,

How many believers, torn by winter's claws,

    Turn envious of hell's inhabitants,

And you see aquatic birds in their nests

Choosing heat of fire and charcoal's glow,

And if you pour your cup's bounty into the air,

It returns to you as garlands of carnelian,

Oh two-lute player, neglect them not,

Strum us a lute and kindle a lute.
