خَدعُكَ الصاحبَ الصَفيِّ خيانَه

سيَّما السِرُّ عِندَ مِثلي أَمانَه

Your loyal friend has betrayed you treacherously

Especially since secrets with the like of me are entrusted

أَنتَ عِندي بِمَنزِلِ العَين وَالعَي

نِ فَلِم أَنتَ في الهَوى خَوّانَه

You are to me like my eyes and my sight

Why then in love are you betraying?

سَرَّكَ اللَهُ بالخَلاصِ مِنَ الأَس

رِ وَسامرتَ في الدُجى رَيحانَه

May God grant you relief from harm

And may you smell sweet basil in the darkness
