1. وَرِثتَ ما نِلتَ مِن فَضلٍ أَباً فَأبا

    وَرامَ غَيرُكَ أَن يَسمو لَهُ فَأبى

    You inherited what you attained in merit, father after father

    And others aspired that glory be theirs, but it refused

  2. أَلَستَ شِبلَ الأُلىَ سادوا وَكانَ بِهِم

    جيدُ العُلى يَلبَسُ الياقوتَ وَالذهَبا

    Are you not the cub of the sublime ones who ruled and with them

    Was the glorious elite who wore ruby and gold

  3. هلالهم أَنتَ فاِعجَل كَي تُرى قَمَراً

    تَغشى بِطَلعَتِكَ الكُتّابَ وَالأُدَباء

    You are their crescent so hurry that you be seen a moon

    Covering with your rising the writers and the literati

  4. لا زِلتَ تَسلُكُ سُبلَ المُهتَدينَ كَما

    تَرجو لِتَبلُغَ مِن مَلِكِ العُلى الأَرَبا

    You still tread the paths of the rightly-guided as you hope

    To attain from the King of the Most High the loftiest goals
