1. وافَت تُجَرّرُ ذَيلَها الدَيجُوري

    فاِنجابَ صُبحُ الوَصلِ لِلمَهجورِ

    The crescent drags its tail languidly

    Dawn breaks for the forsaken lover

  2. وَأَتَت تُذَكِّرُ عَهدَ أَنسي بِالمَها

    وَزَمانَ لَهوي بِالظِبا وَالحورِ

    Reminding me of days of intimacy and delight

    When I reveled with gazelles and nymphs

  3. مَيّاسَةُ الأَغصانِ تَحسَبُ أَنَّها

    نَشوى بِراحٍ مِن كُؤوسِ مُديرِ

    The swaying branches seem intoxicated

    As if from goblets of wine passed around

  4. تَشدو بِلَحنِ المَوصليّ وَمَعبَدٍ

    وَمُخارِقٍ في نَغمَةِ الماخوري

    Singing to the tune of Muwashshah and Mu'abbad

    And Mukhariq in the melody of Makhour

  5. فَتُعيدُ مَيتَ الصَدِّ حَيّاً مِثلَما

    أَحيا السَنوسي النَظمَ بَعدَ دُثورِ

    Bringing the dead heart back to life

    Like Sannusi revived verse after its decline

  6. جَرَّ اليَراعَ يَضُمُّ أَشتاتَ العُلى

    نَصباً لِناظِرِها لِنَفخِ الصور

    Raising the banners of glory aloft

    For beholders, with the blowing of trumpets

  7. وَسَما لِتَخليِدِ المآثِرِ وَالحُلىَ

    لِلغابِرينَ وَشُهَّدٍ وَحُضورِ

    And soaring, to eternalize feats and graces

    Of forebears, with eulogies and presence

  8. وَتَقَلَّدَت مِنهُ البِلادُ نَفائِساً

    وَفَرائِداً بِالرائِدِ المَشهورِ

    The cities were adorned with its rarities

    And masterpieces, by the renowned founder

  9. تُزري بِأَزهارِ الرياضِ وَحُسنَها

    في عَينِ كُلِّ مُحَقِّقٍ وَبَصيرِ

    Bedecking the gardens with flowers and beauty

    Evident to every learned man and seer

  10. أَمُحَمَّداً وَابنَ الَّذينَ عُلومُهُم

    في القُطرِ مِثلُ يَلَملَمٍ وَثَبيرِ

    Muhammad and the son whose knowledge

    In the region is peerless and abundant

  11. شَرَّفَتني بِفَريدَةٍ أَبدَعتَها

    عامَ اِنتِزاهِ الصادِقِ المَنصورِ

    You honored me with a unique pearl

    Created in the year of the truthful victorious ruler

  12. فَظَلِلتُ مِن طَرَبٍ أَميلُ كَأَنَّني

    نَشوانُ ماءِ الكَرمَةِ المَعصورِ

    I swayed with joy as if I were

    Juice of pressed grapes swishing

  13. وَكأَنَّ ما أَتلوهُ مِن أَبياتِها

    نَظمُ الفَرَزدَقِ أَو نِظامُ جَريرِ

    As if the verses I recite

    Are by Farazdaq or Jareer's composition

  14. فَنَظَمتُ ما يَرجو المُحِبّ بِقَولِهِ

    عَن كاسِدٍ لِلعَجزِ وَالتَقصيرِ

    So I composed what a lover hopes with his words

    To make up for incapacity and falling short

  15. داعٍ لَكُم بِسَعادَةٍ أَبَديَّةٍ

    وَإِعانَةٍ وَمَبَرّة وَسُرورِ

    Praying you have eternal bliss

    And support, grace and joy
