1. قَصَدَت جَنابَكَ مِن سَحيق مَكان

    تَعنو لِما أُوتيتَ مِن سُلطان

    Your Excellency came from a faraway place

    Seeking what power you were given

  2. هيَ أُمّ عيسى الزَرافَةُ مَن سَمَت

    في قَدرِها عَن أَكثَر الحَيوان

    Rising above most animals

    She gathered beauty in herself, and adorned herself

  3. جَمَعَت مَحاسنَهُ بِها فَتَبَرَّجَت

    وَسَما لَها جيدٌ عَلى الأَقران

    With a neck towering over others

    And was colored with wonders in her dye

  4. وَتَلَوَّنَت بِبَدائِعٍ في صِبغها

    تُزري بِزَهر الرَوضِ في نيسان

    She blossoms the garden's flowers in April

    With white, black, yellow and red

  5. مِن أَبيَضٍ يَقَقٍ وَأَصفَرَ فاقِع

    في أَسوَدٍ داجٍ وَأَحمَرَ قان

    And glanced coquettishly with her eyelash

    And swayed like a cheek among the branches

  6. وَرَنَت بِطَرف الريم مِن خُيلائِها

    وَتَمايَسَت كالخود بَينَ غَوان

    Tame and wild, none could lead her

    Except the Syrian kings with crowns

  7. إِنسيَّةٌ وَحشيَّةٌ ما اِقتادَها

    إِلّا المُلوكُ الشُمُّ ذو التيجان

    It's as if she preferred those of high status

    Who fetched the spring's water from Zaghwan

  8. وَكَأَنَّها اِختَصَّت بِمَن حازَ العُلى

    واِجتابَ ماءَ العَين مِن زَغوان

    I mean the Banu Hafs, and that is enough for you

    No one else, when she saw you again

  9. أَعني بَني حَفصٍ وَحَسبُكَ هَذِهِ

    لا غَيرُ لَمّا أَن رأتكَ الثاني

    The one who drove the fresh Euphrates to Tunis

    And the sweet provider to the thirsty

  10. السائِقُ العَذبَ الفُراتَ لِتونِسٍ

    وَالمورِدُ المَعسولُ لِلظَّمآنِ

    She left the smoke of palm trees in her homeland

    Seeking out one who entertains without smoke

  11. تَرَكَت دُخانَ الرمث في أَوطانَها

    طَلَباً لِمَن يَقري بِغَير دُخان

    And she came to you in peace and pleasant affection

    And asked about the animals in the enclosure

  12. وَأتَتكَ في خَفرٍ وَحُسن تَوَدّدٍ

    وَسَلَت عَن الفَيفاء بالمَيدان

    The one who gathered opposites, a lion with serenity

    And the varied birds and whales

  13. الجامِع الأَضداد أُسد مَع مَهاً

    وَالطَير ذي الأَنواع وَالحيتان

    And wonders of the Merciful's creation, that

    Were not gathered for the founder of the enclosure

  14. وَعَجائِبٍ مِن خَلقَة الرَحمَنِ ما

    لَم يَجتَمِع لِمُؤَسِّس الإيوان

    No, by the Lord of Sadir and its lightning

    And the honored castle from Ghumdan

  15. كَلا وَلا رَبّ السَدير وَبارِقٍ

    وَالقَصر ذي الشرُفات مِن غُمدان

    Reserved by kings, when they wanted to spread it

    Through the tongues of architecture

  16. مِمَمُ المُلوك إِذا أَرادوا نَشرَها

    مِن بَعدهم فَبألسُن البُنيان

    Indeed, when a building's prestige grows

    It denotes the grandeur of status

  17. إِنَّ البِناءَ إِذا تَعاظَمَ قَدرُهُ

    أَضحى يَدُلُّ عَلى عَظيم الشان

    O Bey, advisor, chosen one

    The honest in promise, brother of benevolence

  18. يا أَيُّها الباش المُشيرُ المُرتَضى

    الصادِقُ الوَعدُ أَخو الإِحسان

    Congratulations on what none were given before you

    In past eras and times

  19. يَهنيكَ ما لَم يُؤتَهُ مِن قَبلكم

    في سالِف الأَحقاب وَالأَزمان

    So receive the countries' voluntary submission

    And their souls, let alone their bodies

  20. فاِسلَم تَسوقُ لَكَ البِلادُ نَفيسَها

    وَنُفوسَها فَضلاً عَن الأَبدانِ

    And have good fortune in eternal, extending kingship

    In glory that grows and reaches safety

  21. واِسعَد لِمُلكٍ دائِمٍ مُتَطاوِلٍ

    في عَزَّةٍ تَنمو وَنَيل أَمان

    And God protects your glory and increases

    Your merit, by the station of the Criterion

  22. وَاللَهُ يَحرُسُ مَجدَكُم وَيَزيدُكُم

    مِن فَضله بِمُنَزَّل الفُرقان
