1. أَمَن مجده فَوقَ السِماكَين والفَرغِ

    وَمَن نال في العَلياءِ فَوقَ الَّذي يَبغي

    Whose glory transcends the heights of sky and space,

    And who in the heights attained more than he can wish,

  2. وَيا فَخرَ أَهلِ الغَربِ يا مَن مَحَلّهُ

    مِنَ اللطفِ مِثلُ الخالِ في عَطفَة الصدغِ

    O pride of Westerns, he whose stature bears

    A charm like the mole on the cheek's soft slope,

  3. تَفَضّل عَلى الخِلّ الوَثيقِ وِدادُهُ

    بِديوانِ شِعرِ البُحتَريّ مَعَ الوِرغي

    Bestow on the faithful friend profound regard

    Along with Buhturi's diwan and the lute.
