The companions with whom I was

A morning cup for parting, so they parted,

O glance, never did I glance in the rending

Of dawn towards it when it was said she departs,

Her anklet is sated and her tattoo smudged

And the mole on her from it an unsettled scarf,

Good are the youth’s traces when night cools

And its clothes dampen in clinging folds,

    Snub-nosed like an ostrich, friendly,

Not fed by life on herbs that choke,

Rosy as the blessed night, the

Moony, by whose light horizons shine.
