إِنَّ الحَبيبَ تَرَوَّحَت أَجمالُهُ
أُصُلاً فَدَمعُكَ دائِمٌ إِسبالُهُ
The beloved's beauty has vanished
And your tears flow ceaselessly
إِقنِ الحَياءَ فَقَد بَكَيتَ بِعَولَةٍ
إِن كانَ يَنفَعُ باكِياً إِعوالُهُ
Be modest, for you have wept loudly
As if crying loudly would bring him back
قَد راحَ في تِلكَ الحُمُولِ عَشِيَّةً
شَخصٌ يَسُرُّكَ حُسنُهُ وَجَمالُهُ
In the meadows he walked one evening
A man whose beauty and grace delighted you
شَخص غَضيض الطَرف مضطم الحَشا
عَبل المدملج مشبع خلخاله
A tender-eyed, plump-cheeked man
With curly hair and anklets
يا حَبَّذا تِلكَ الحُمُولُ وَحَبَّذا
شَخصٌ هُناكَ وَحَبَّذا أَمثالُهُ
Blessed are those meadows and blessed
Is that man who was there and others like him
