1. كَيفَ الخَلاصُ وَذى اللِحاظ تَصول

    وَالسَيف مِن جِفنَيكَ لي مَسلول

    How can I find deliverance when your glances pierce

    And swords from your eyelids are unsheathed against me

  2. وَعَقارِب الاِصداغِ لِما أَن سَعت

    أَيقَنتَ مِنها أَنَّني مَقتول

    And scorpions in my temples, when they crawled

    Assured me that I was destined to be killed

  3. يا ظَبي هَل تَدنو لِيَسعَدَ ناظِري

    بِلُقاكَ اِن يَكُ لِلِّقاءِ سَبيل

    O gazelle, would you come near to gladden my eyes

    By your presence, if a meeting were possible

  4. لا تَخشَ مِن نَظرى عَلى خَدَّيكَ اِن

    يُبدى جِراحاً وَالمِياهُ تَسيلُ

    Do not fear my gaze upon your cheek, even if

    It reveals wounds while the waters flow

  5. شَهِدت عُيونَكَ في اِباحَة مَأتَمى

    فَاِحكُم قِصاصا فَالشُهودُ عَدول

    Your eyes witnessed the permissibility of my sorrow

    So execute vengeance, for the witnesses are just
