1. لَعِب الهَوى بِفؤاد صب نائى

    وَسَقاهُ كَأس لَوعَة وَعَناء

    The passion played with the heart of a remote lover

    And gave him a cup of anguish and hardship

  2. ما بالَه لَزِمَ الهَوى حَتّى غَدا

    في الحُبِّ لَم يَبرَح عَنِ البَرحاءِ

    What is wrong with him that he stuck to passion until

    In love, he did not stop wandering

  3. قَد كانَ قَبلَ العِشقِ لا يَدري الجَوى

    هَل تاهَ بَعدَ العِشقِ في تَيهاء

    He did not know passion before falling in love

    After falling in love, did he get lost in confusion

  4. أَم هامَ وَجدا في المَلاحِ فَأَصبَحَت

    أَحشاؤُهُ لإترتجي لِشفاء

    Or did he become passionate in love, so

    His insides started shaking for recovery

  5. ما بالَهُ يَشكو وَيَشكُر حالَة

    اِمسى بِها مِن جُملَةِ الشُهَداء

    What is wrong with him that he complains yet thanks

    A state with which he became one of the martyrs

  6. أَبدا تَراهُ لاهِجا بِاِسمِ الَّذي

    يَهواهُ ف الاِصباحِ وَالاِمساء

    You always see him uttering the name of the one

    He loves in the morning and evening

  7. كَفى مَدامِعي الغزار أَو اِذرفى

    وَتَقَطُّعي بِالهَجرِ يا أَحشائي

    Enough are my pouring tears or shed

    And my intestines being severed by separation

  8. وَتَثبتي يا مُهجتى أَو فَاِجزَعى

    وَتَفطري أَو فَاِصبِري لِقَضاء

    And my inner self, either be firm or despair

    And break or be patient with fate

  9. حكم الهَوى وَالقَلب لازَمَه الجَوى

    تَبقى لِواعجه بِطول بَقائي

    The rule of passion and the heart that is possessed by fervor

    Will remain for its pains as long as I live

  10. دَمعي وَقَلبي مُطلَق وَمُقَيَّد

    هذا لِتَعذبي وَذا لِشَقائي

    My tears and heart are free and confined

    One for my torment, the other for my misery

  11. حُب تَمكن في الفُؤاد وَقَد بَدَت

    آثاه في سائِرِ الأَعضاء

    A love that settled in the heart and its traces

    Appeared in all the limbs

  12. اِني لِيُعجِبُني الَّذي يَرضى بِهِ

    سِيان بَعدي عَنهُ أَو اِدنائى

    I am amazed by what satisfies him

    Whether I am near or far from him

  13. فَعَلامَةُ العُشّاقِ حُسنُ رِضا همو

    عَمّا اِرتَضى المَحبوبُ مِن أَشياء

    For the sign of lovers is their happiness

    With what the beloved one prefers

  14. وَقَد اِعتَرَفتُ بِأَنَّ مثلى لَم يَقُم

    بِحُقوقُهِ وَمُقصر بِأَداء

    And I admitted that someone like me

    Did not fulfill his rights and was negligent in performing

  15. فَقَصَدت ساحَة عَفوِهِ متسربِلا

    بِجنايَتي مُتَوَحِّشاً بِحَيائي

    So I came with my crime, feeling terrified by my shyness

    To the field of your forgiveness

  16. وَأَتيتُ بابَكَ وَالرَجاءُ يَؤُمني

    وَاِخجَلتي اِن لَم أَفُز بِرِضاء

    And I came to your door while hope reassures me

    And I would be embarrassed if I don’t succeed in pleasing you

  17. غَواثاه مِن لي اِن منعت وَكَيف لي

    بِما عدان لَم تَقُم بِوَفائي

    Save me if you forbid while how can I

    If you don’t fulfill my loyalty

  18. أَم كَيفَ أَنعُم بِالبَقا وَيَلِذ لي

    عَيشُ اِذ أَشَمت بي أَعدائي

    Or how can I enjoy life while my enemies

    Gloat over me

  19. وَادي الغَضا قَلبي بِما أَلقاهُ من

    أَمارَتي بِالسوء وَالضَرّاء

    The valley of ignorance threw my heart into

    The suggestions of evil and harm

  20. فَزَعيم جَيش الجَهلِ حط عَزائِمي

    وَالشَر قَوض مربعى وَبنائى

    So the leader of the army of ignorance weakened my determination

    And evil eroded my firmness and structure

  21. وَكَبائرَ الهَفواتِ قَد أَلبَسَتني

    ثَوبَ الهَوانِ وَمَلبَسُ البُأَساءِ

    And the major sins dressed me

    With the clothes of disgrace and misery

  22. أَن في رَحيبِ رحاب جودِكَ مَوجدي

    وَرِضاكَ يا مَولايَ من شُفَعائي

    I hope to find my salvation and your satisfaction, my Master,

    Among those who intercede for me

  23. اِن كانَ عِصياني وَسوءُ جِنايَتي

    عَظما وَصرت مُهَدَّداً بِجَزائي

    If my disobedience and the gravity of my crime

    Became great and I was threatened with punishment

  24. فَفَضاء عَفوِكَ لا حُدودَ لِوُسعِهِ

    وَعَلَيهِ مُعتَمِدي وَحُسنُ رَجائي

    Then the vastness of your forgiveness has no limits

    And in it lies my dependence and good hope

  25. يا مَن يَرى ما في الضَميرِ وَلا يَرى

    اِنّي رَجوتَكَ اِن تُجيبُ دُعائي

    O You who sees what is in the conscience and does not see

    I hoped You would answer my prayer

  26. يا عالَم الشَكوى وَحر تَوجعي

    دائي عَظيم القَرح جد بِدَوائي

    O Knower of complaints and burner of my pain

    My illness is severe, so remedy my medicine

  27. بَحَبيبِكَ الهادي سَأَلتُكَ دلني

    لِعِلاجِ أَمراضي وَجاب شَفائي

    For the sake of Your guiding Beloved I asked you, show me

    The cure for my diseases, and the remedy came

  28. ثُمَّ الصَلاةُ عَلَيهِ ما هَب الصِبا

    سُخر فَعطر سائِر الاِرجاء

    Then blessings upon him whenever the morning breeze blows

    It spreads the fragrance all over the quarters
