ولي منزل لقّنته سر عزلتي

فباركها ثم استحال شعارا

I have a house whose secret I taught seclusion

So bless it, then it became a motto

ومدّ لفيف الكرم حتى رأيته

ستائر غنّتها الظلال مرارا

And the kindness extended its curtains

The shadows sang it repeatedly

وحفت به الأشجار ملء حنوها

تخبئه مهما أطل جهارا

The trees surrounded it, full of their love

Hiding it whenever it appears openly

كأن لها فيه كنوزا ثمينة

وليست سوى حبي لهن توارى

As if it had precious treasures for them

Yet it is only my love for them hiding

فيا مستحم الطير إن تفش سرنا

عذرتك كم طير لديك تبارى

O bird landing on water, if you reveal our secret

I'll forgive you, however many birds in you vie

وأيّ خفاء نستطيع وهذه

حليك تعلو في الهواء نثارا

What concealment can we have when your ornaments

Arise high in the air scattered

وحان كسوف الشمس لكنما أبى

لها الطير عذرا حين حط وطارا

And the sun eclipse came but the birds refused

To forgive it when it landed and flew

وراح يعبّ الماء سكران بالهوى

كما عبّ في عيد الربيع سكارى

And it started pouring the water drunk with love

As the intoxicated pour on a feast day

تنوعت الأحجام من كل صبغة

جواهر أو كالنور رف وثارا

Diverse shapes of every color

Gems or like light fluttered and rose

وبعثرت الماء الضحوك للهوها

فردته مجنونا فطار شرارا

The playful water scattered in its joy

Madly it returned flying sparks

فيا شمس غيبي أو أطلي فإننا

نرى ضوءك الوهاج كان معارا

So sun hide or appear for we

See your blazing light as if borrowed

وقد وحدتنا في تصوفنا منى

تفيض ضياء في القلوب ونارا

And the same mysticism united us

Overflowing light into hearts and fire
