مرضت يوماً فقالوا أزمة وقعت

وأنه غضب المأزوم لا المرضُ

Once I fell ill, and they said a crisis has occurred,

And that the distressed one was angry, not the illness.

سلمت للوطن الغالي فأنت له

نعم المجير ونعم العون والعوض

I surrendered to the precious homeland, so you are for it

A good protector, a good helper and compensation.

لئن مرضت فمن أعباء ما تركوا

وإن غضبت فللخير الذي اعترضوا

If I fell ill, it was from the burdens they left behind,

And if I became angry, it was for the good they opposed.

وإن شفيت فكل المخلصين شفوا

وإن رضيت فكل المخلصين رضوا

And if I recovered, then all the loyal ones recovered,

And if I became content, then all the loyal ones became content.

دع الغضاب لما اعتادوا فما نقصوا

لك الوسائل والعقبى ولا نقضوا

Leave the anger for what they got accustomed to, they caused no deficiency.

For you are the means, the outcomes, and they caused no destruction,

وكل ما كان من سر ومن علن

فإنه غير ما ظنوا وما افترضوا

And everything that was of secrets and of public,

It is other than what they thought and what they supposed.

عساهمُ أن يعودوا بعد جفوتهم

أحبة ويسروا بعدما امتعضوا

May they return after their estrangement,

Dear ones, and they become happy after they were disgusted.
