قضية مصر في هذا المكانِ

وعقبى الأمر في هذا الأوانِ

The cause of Egypt in this place

And the consequence at this time

ويوم اللّه يومك تجتليه

وفود الملك من قاصٍ وداني

And God's day your day manifests

And the pilgrimage of the king from afar and near

تلاقت أنغم العيدين فيه

وآن الواعدان الصادقان

The tunes of the two holidays met in it

And the two truthful promisers

قضى الوادي شعائره صباحاً

وجاءك في ضحاه بالتهاني

The valley performed its rituals in the morning

And came to you at noon with congratulations

وطاف الشعب يجمعه خطيب

قويم الرأي مصدوق البيان

And the people circled with an eloquent preacher

Sound of opinion and truthful of speech

تناول وقعه من كل نفس

مكان الأريحيَّة والأماني

It took its impact from every soul

The place of comfort and wishes

ومكَّن ما بنيت على السجايا

وهدَّ الهادمين لكل باني

And enabled what you built on the fundamentals

And guided the demolishers of every builder

وكان نذير طائفة ترامت

بها الأهواء خلف الأفعوان

And was a warning to a group that was disturbed

By the whims behind the snakes

لذاك البأس ساعته اضطراراً

وللعظة الكريمة كل آن

For that coercion its time forcibly

And for the precious lesson every time

وقد يغني عن اليد وهي حقٌّ

على الإنسان تأثير اللسان

And eloquence may suffice instead of the hand and it is a right

On man the influence of the tongue

زعيم المخلصين اخترت صحباً

مضوا بالركب في طرق الأمان

The leader of the loyalists you chose a company

They went with the caravan in the ways of safety

يريدون المصير كما أرادوا

وفيما دبروا كل الضمان

They want the fate as they wanted

And in what they plotted all the guarantee

فما للثائرين عليك عادوا

فلولا قبل ميعاد الرهان

So why did the rebels against you return

Otherwise before the appointment of the bet

تركتهمُ وما تركوا جدالاً

وراءك في الحقيقة والعيان

You left them and they did not leave an argument

Behind you in the truth and evidence

فهم يخفون ما أبديت منهم

ويبكون المنافع بالأغاني

They hide what you revealed from them

And they cry over the benefits with songs

وهم يتنقلون بلاد دليل

وهم يتكلمون بلا معاني

And they roam the countries without a guide

And they speak without meanings

فهل عدمت مكايدهم سبيلاً

وقد فروا من الحرب العوان

So did their schemes lack a way

And they escaped from the supporting war?

فإن صبروا على ما أنت قاض

عليهم فهْو إذعان الجبان

If they were patient with what you judge

Upon them, then it is the submission of the coward

وما لزعيمهم ما زال فيهم

يسيرُ إلى الصلاةِ بمهرجان

And their leader who still remains among them

Walking to prayers with processions

وما يدري أللعز اختيالاً

يتيه بموكب أم للهوان

And he does not know whether pride is affectation

Or gets lost with a procession of humiliation

أضر به العناد فراح منه

مريض العقل واليد والجنان

Stubbornness harmed him, so he went away from it

Sick of mind, hand and side

فلا غدواته غدوات إنس

ولا روحاته روحات جان

So his risings are not human risings

Nor are his spirits, spirits of Jinn

نصرتك يا وزير الشعب طوعاً

وللشعب افتناني وافتتاني

I supported you, O Minister of the people, willingly

And for the people my infatuation and infatuation

وتابعت الذي أرضى وأغنى

بلادك من مآثرك الحسان

And I followed the one who pleased and enriched

Your country from your good deeds

وحسبك أنني في كل أمر

أعاني من جهادك ما تعاني

And it is enough for me that in every matter

I suffer from your jihad what you suffer

ولي في كل ما أرجو وترجو

يقين ملء نفسي والزمان

And I have in everything I hope and you hope

Certainty filling my soul and time

وللباغي عليَّ وإن تمادى

نصيبٌ من سماحي والحنان

And for the aggressor against me, even if he persists

A share of my generosity and affection
