يا صاحب الأدب الفياض تهنئةً

بحقك اليومَ من حكم وسلطانِ

O you of abundant courtesy, congratulations

On your right today to rule and sovereignty

إذا تنافس أهل الخير واستبقوا

فأنت أولهم في كل ميدان

If the people of virtue compete and race ahead

You are the first among them in every field

وما الوزارة غنمٌ أنت مدركه

لكنه عبء أقوام وأوطان

Ministry is not spoils you have attained

Rather, a burden for nations and homelands

أتى نصيبك في مصدوق موعده

وأنت مرجوُّ أكفاء وأقران

Your lot came in a trustworthy promise

And you are hoped for by peers and mates

واخترتَ ناحية الأخلاق تصلحها

وفي يديك أداة الهادم الباني

You have chosen the path of morals to repair

And in your hands the tool of demolition and building

أحسنتَ أولَ صُنعٍ في دعايتها

واليوم تحسن فيها صنعك الثاني

You have done good first in its promotion

And today you do good in your second making

حق المودة من قلبي وواجبها

قضيته لك عن صَحبي وإخواني

The right of affection from my heart and its duty

I have fulfilled it for you from my comrades and brothers

لعل عهدَك عهد الصلحِ تشهده

فيسلم العالم العاني من الجاني

May your era be the era of peace it witnesses

So the suffering world rests from the oppressor

ويستريح من الأضغان حاملها

فلا تُرى بين سكسونٍ وألمان

And finds relief from burdens borne

No longer seen between Saxon and German

ويشمل السلمُ أهلَ الأرضِ كلَّهمُ

فلا ينكِّلُ إنسانٌ بإنسان

And peace covers all people of earth

So no human tyrannizes another human
